Olds Smart Farm Tour Join Us & Olds College to discover the future of pasture management at our interactive field day! Laio Sobrinho, Research Manager, and Brianna Gratton, Techgronomist at Olds College, will demonstrate and discuss the technologies being studied at the Smart Farm. They will showcase the rising plate meter, water level sensors, electric fence monitors, and nitrate meter, and explain how these tools can be used to improve pasture management and support rotational grazing practices.

21st Annual Southern Alberta Grazing School for Women

July 24 & 25, 2024, Seven Persons, AB

Topics include Range and Riparian Health, Hands on Plant ID, Grazing Principles and Practices, Local Ranching Women Stories. Hands-on learning (out in the pasture) and indoor presentations, about half of each day. Please come prepared for all weather conditions and walking outside in a pasture setting. We will have live music for evening entertainment July 24th.

GRO Forage BBQ

July 25, 2024, 4-7:30 pm, County of Barrhead No. 11, AB

Join us for a look at a variety of forage plots followed by a delicious BBQ supper at the annual GRO Forage BBQ! We'll take a look at the silage variety trials, perennial forages (yr 4), and an early look at our corn. There are some fall seeded demo plots and a few other trials at this site that may be of interest. Plots are located at Anderson Seed Growers (Hwy 18) and will be followed by supper (and more information) at the Naples Hall. Enjoy great company and sharing of information. Cover Crop and Nitrogen Mentor - AB

Kabal Singh grew up on a mixed farm operation in Northern India. He is currently a Crop Technician at Gateway Research Organization. He has a Bachelor Degree in Agriculture and also holds a Diploma in Agribusiness majoring in Crops from Lakeland College. In 2019, he was nominated for “President Circle” at Lakeland College for his outstanding leadership abilities. Kabal has experience working on research trials, soil testing, crop production cycle, and innovative approach in agriculture (hydroponic). He likes to read literature and listen to music in his spare time.
